Orphans

Orphans are product sheets, variants, or assets that are not associated with other content.

Managing orphans is done directly from the advanced search page: use the search to identify orphans and associate them with other PIM objects via bulk actions.


Orphan product sheets

A product sheet is considered orphan when it is not associated with any classification.

Product sheets can become orphan in the following cases:

  • When classifications are deleted,
  • Importing product sheets without defining their classifications.

Identifying orphan product sheets

Run a search by specifying the following options in the upper section:

  • Object type = Product
  • Filter = Classification - filter by condition
  • Finally, choose the operation is empty

The search result then displays all product sheets, regardless of product type, that are not associated with any classification.

In order to select product sheets in the advanced search results, you must first refine the search by specifying the product type in the upper section.

Custom display

  • It is possible to customize the search results by adding the classification column via the display customization menu:
  • When no classification name appears in the classification column, it indicates that the product sheet is orphan.

Adding orphan product sheets to classifications

To add orphan product sheets to a classification, proceed directly from the search results:

  • Select orphan product sheets one by one by checking their box, or
  • Select all product sheets by clicking the checkbox Select all results.

Once selected, use the bulk move action and choose the classification to which you want to move all orphan product sheets.

Deleting orphan product sheets

To delete an orphan product sheet from Quable PIM, proceed directly from the search results:

  • Select product sheets one by one by checking their box, or

  • Select all product sheets by clicking the checkbox Select all results.

    Once selected, use the bulk delete action.

This action is irreversible. Once a product sheet has been deleted, it cannot be recovered.



Orphan variants

A variant is considered orphan when it is not associated with any product sheet.

Variants can become orphan in the following cases:

  • When the product sheet they are associated with is deleted,
  • When dissociated directly from the product sheet,
  • Importing variants without associating them with their product sheet.

Identifying orphan variants

Run a search by specifying the following options in the upper section:

  • Object type = Variants
  • Filter = Product - filter by condition
  • Finally, choose the operation is empty

The search result then displays all variants that are not associated with any product sheet.


Associating orphan variants with product sheets

To add orphan variants to a product sheet, proceed directly from the search results:

  • Select orphan variants one by one by checking their box, or
  • Select all variants by clicking the checkbox Select all results.

Once selected, use the bulk link action and choose the Product -> Variant link, then choose Link a product and type the name or code of the product sheet to link all orphan variants to.


Deleting orphan variants

To delete orphan variants from Quable PIM, proceed directly from the search results:

  • Select orphan variants one by one by checking their box, or

  • Select all orphan variants by clicking the checkbox Select all results.

Orphan assets

An asset is considered orphan when it is not linked to a product sheet or a variant.

Assets can become orphan in the following cases:

  • Archiving the product sheet they are associated with,
  • Deleting the product sheet they are associated with,
  • Dissociation from the product sheet, variant, or classification,
  • Importing assets without associating them with a product sheet.

Identifying orphan assets

Run a search by specifying the following options in the upper section:

  • Object type = Assets
  • Filter = Links
  • Finally, choose the operation is empty

The search result then displays all assets that are not linked to any other object.


Linking orphan assets to product sheets or variants

To link orphan assets, proceed directly from the search results:

  • Select orphan assets one by one by checking their box, or
  • Select all assets by clicking the checkbox Select all results.

Once selected, use the bulk link action and choose the link to consider:

  • Product -> Asset, then choose Link a product and type the name or code of the product sheet to link orphan assets to.
  • Variant -> Asset, then choose Link a variant and type the name or code of the variant to link orphan assets to.

Deleting orphan assets

To delete orphan assets from Quable DAM, proceed directly from the search results:

  • Select orphan assets one by one by checking their box, or

  • Select all orphan assets by clicking the checkbox Select all results.

    Once selected, use the bulk delete action.
