Creating Channels
Learning Objectives
- Distribute personalized information: product sheets and assets from the PIM, to external recipients.
- Manage channels: create, customize, or delete channels.
1. Overview of Distribution Channels
Distribution channels allow you to publish PIM Quable information to various external recipients, such as:
- e-commerce platforms,
- marketplaces,
- product portals,
- printed catalogs,
- retail stores, etc.
Good to know
No limit! You can configure as many channels as necessary.
To access channels, go to Data > Channels.

Channels are fully customizable. You can define:
- classification hierarchy,
- distributed data,
- information associated with product sheets or assets.
2. Create a Channel
Before you begin, identify your needs and goals:
- Why do you want to distribute this data?
- Which data should be shared and which should be excluded?
Then, follow these steps to set up a channel tailored to your goals:

Go to the Channels page,

Create a new channel: click the + button below the list of channels,
- Fill in the required information:
- Channel Name (required).
- Channel Code: 3 characters (required).
- Channel Type: document or asset.

Types of Channels
- Document
The Document channel type allows you to distribute product sheets, their attributes, associated asset, and related parent/child product sheets. This type of channel is ideal for publishing complete product information from the PIM. - Asset
The Asset channel type allows you to distribute only asset and their attributes. This type of channel is perfect for sharing visuals with the press, partners, or suppliers.
3. Delete a Channel
To delete a channel, follow these steps:

Go to the Channels page,

Select the channel to delete,

Click the - button below the list of channels,

Confirm the deletion by clicking Yes
Good to know
- Deleting a channel is permanent.
- Associated data will be lost without the possibility of recovery.
- Product sheets and assets will not be deleted from the PIM.
